Hurricane Preparedness

twiahurricaneads_fb-300x249

Hurricane season officially started June 1 and ends November 30.

This year the meteorological experts at Colorado State University call for a total of twelve named storms, five hurricanes, and two major hurricanes (classified as Category 3 or stronger).

The Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management has issued Hurricane Preparedness Guidelines to assist the public in preparing for Hurricane Season. Please visit the Harris County Regional Joint Information Center for more information.

The State of Texas encourages residents who may need some form of assistance during times of an emergency/disaster event to register with the STEAR program, a FREE registry that provides local emergency planners and responders with additional information on the needs in their community. Please visit https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/dem/stear/public.htm for more information.

Flooding Information for April 20, 2016

On the night of April 17, 2016, the City of Houston and the surrounding areas began to experience a large amount of rainfall that ultimately created historic flooding in the early morning hours of April 18th. According to the Harris County Flood Control District, the northwest and north side of the city was hit particularly hard with 10 to 20 inches of rain measured.

The Board of Directors for the District would like to take this opportunity to inform the residents of actions that have been implemented in an effort to increase the drainage rate for the water in the Northern Point subdivision.

Currently, the District is running two large stationary pumps to siphon water out of the District.  The stationary pumps have run continuously since April 17th and will remain on until the water in the District completely drains.

In addition to the two large stationary pumps, the District has deployed two portable pumps.  The District has a 6″ temporary portable pump and the District rented an 8″ diesel portable pump in an effort to transport water from Northern Point to Ashford Grove.  The portable pumps are diverting water to the South instead of to the North where Willow Creek is already out of its banks.

The District respectfully requests the residents assist with clearing trash and debris from their property so that it will not impede drainage.  Additionally, the Board would like to remind residents that there can be unknown hazards when water is draining and the Board would like to advise that residents do not let their children play in the floodwater.

Harris County MUD #368 is managed by five elected Directors and is presently composed of nine subdivisions in various states of development: Three Lakes, Three Lakes East, Pinecrest Forest, Northpointe East, Willow Falls, StonePine, Northern Point, Ashford Place, and Ashford Grove. The total number of connections served are over 3,300.
